Larnaca College
Larnaca
College is one of the most vibrant colleges set up in Larnaca Cyprus
and offers high standards of private education on a wide range of
programs to students from around the world.
The
College is renowned for its expertise in the area of Business
Administration, Travel and Tourism, Information and Communication
Technology.
The
Faculty consists of highly qualified academic instructors, experienced
practitioners and researchers who know how to enrich the educational
experience of students.
The
facilities, the number and standard of lectures and the coordination of
courses complying with the innovative European Education System, all
contribute to giving Larnaca College the prestige and unique
characteristics of a European College.
The College
stands in its own new building, situated in the center of Larnaca amongst all
the cityfacilities. The ground floor consists of the main entrance and houses
all the students’ personal lockers. The first floor offers covered, ample
parking for staff and students. The second floor consists of the reception
area, administrative offices, faculty offices, PC-lab, cafeteria and the
Directors office. All Lecture rooms and auditoriums are on the third floor.
Both the third and second floors offer ample toilet and wash room facilities.
Larnaca College Strategies
RATIONALE
Cyprus has developed over
the last twenty years as a centre for providing higher education. It enjoys a
strong local demand and an increasing number of international students that
choose Cyprus for their studies. It is a
declared policy of the Government of Cyprus to promote the country as a centre
for offering educational services. In
May 2004, Cyprus joined the European Union, something which further strengthens
such ambitions. A recent amendment to its legislation that provides for
recognition of qualifications obtained through study in programmes franchised
from recognized institutions of other EU countries creates a favorable
situation for colleges who are keen to provide only UK approved qualifications
to their students.
THE
LOCAL MARKET
One of the primary
strategic aims of Larnaca College will be the creation of a strong local base.
This will protect the long term success of the venture from fluctuations in the
international market and changes in national or EU policies.
Currently the Cypriot state
universities are admitting around 2000 of the approximately 9000 Cypriots that
seek admission to higher education every year.
Some 4800 go to the UK. This
would be prime target group for Larnaca College as they show preference to
British Higher Education. It is expected
that a number of those that choose the other three private universities in
Nicosia will seek admission to Larnaca College since it will offer UK approved
undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses..
INTERNATIONAL
RECRUITMENT
Our target is to have a
good balance of Local and international students at Larnaca College. Much of this recruitment is expected to be
done by agents. We purpose to cultivate
strong relationships with good agents and support them with research, training,
materials, and generous commissions.
We need to place extra
attention on the first few years, so as to built good will amongst the first
intakes of students, who eventually become our “champions”. More than two thirds of the new business
comes from “world of mouth”, and we need to create as much of that as possible.
Participation in Education
Fairs and Workshops must be an activity of prime importance, as it is the best
method to build a reliable network of agents.
We must also organize “road
shows” with the aim of reaching secondary schools, and people that have
influence in that public.
